LEGAL

Privacy Policy

Project Regrow (Representative: Atsuhisa Nishizawa; "we") handles information on this site and in all works and services we provide (such as MOTOKAO; the "Products") as described below. This policy also applies to Products we release in the future.

This is an English translation. If there is any difference between this English version and the Japanese version, the Japanese version prevails.

Our basic approach: we keep only what we need for future services and product development

We aim to hold as little information about individual users as possible. We receive only what is needed to run each Product and to respond to inquiries. We keep only information that is needed for future services and product development, and delete the rest once it has served its purpose. As far as possible, the contents of our Products (such as what you played) stay on your device or travel directly between devices, without passing through our servers. If any Product handles information differently from this approach, we will announce it on this page beforehand.

1. Information we collect and how we use it

Inquiries

We receive your name, email address and message. We use them to reply, to respond to disclosure requests under the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions, to check problems, and to improve our services and products. Inquiries are received through Netlify (USA).

Feedback

We receive your nickname, country (optional), feedback text, whether you'd like a paper edition, display language, and where you sent it from (e.g., from MOTOKAO). We do not collect email addresses. Feedback is stored in a Google spreadsheet, and only feedback we approve is posted on this site, limited to nickname, country and text. See the Feedback Policy for details. Feedback is received through Google Apps Script (Google LLC, USA).

Usage analytics

To improve the site and Products, we measure usage with Umami. What is sent includes pages viewed, referrer (where you came from), device/browser/OS type, country or region, and screen size. No cookies are used, and no information that identifies individuals or tracks behavior across sites is sent.

Using our Products (e.g., MOTOKAO)

In MOTOKAO, the game's contents (faces and nicknames) are exchanged directly between the devices of players in the same room. A public PeerJS server is used only to help devices connect; we never store faces or nicknames on our servers. Your nickname and display language are saved only in your own device (browser) for next time.

Purchases

Products are sold on BOOTH (pixiv Inc.) and Ko-fi (Ko-fi Labs Limited, UK). Purchase information is handled under each service's privacy policy. Payments on Ko-fi are processed by payment services such as PayPal, and we never receive payment details such as card numbers. We use order information notified by these services (such as your name and email address) only to deliver products and respond to inquiries, and do not store it separately.

Amazon Associates links

Some pages on this site contain Amazon Associates links. Once you follow a link to Amazon, your information is handled under Amazon's privacy notice. We do not receive personal information about people who click these links.

2. Information sent to external services

On this site and in our Products, information is sent to the following external services. We will update this table when we add Products.

UmamiSent: pages viewed, referrer, device and browser type, country or region, etc. (no cookies) / Purpose: understanding and improving usage
NetlifySent: access information for the site (such as IP address, to deliver the site), inquiry contents / Purpose: delivering the site, receiving inquiries
GoogleSent: feedback form contents / Purpose: receiving, storing and posting feedback
PeerJS (MOTOKAO)Sent: an identifier for connecting / Purpose: helping players' devices connect
Google Fonts (MOTOKAO)Sent: access information when loading fonts / Purpose: delivering the fonts used on the game screen
jsDelivr (MOTOKAO)Sent: access information when loading programs / Purpose: delivering programs the game needs
BOOTH / Ko-fi (when you buy)Sent: information you enter on each service when buying / Purpose: selling products and processing payments (handled under each service's privacy policy)

Some of these providers are located overseas (mainly in the USA), and information may be stored on servers outside Japan.

3. Sharing with third parties

Except as required by law, we do not provide personal information to third parties without your consent.

4. Retention

Based on our basic approach, we handle information as follows.

  • Inquiries: Kept as a record of our response and to improve our services and products. We will delete them if you ask.
  • Feedback: Kept, whether or not it is posted, to improve our Products and to consider things like a paper edition. Contact us if you'd like posted feedback withdrawn or stored feedback deleted.
  • Analytics records: Treated as usage statistics that do not identify individuals, and kept to improve the site and Products (records older than a certain period are deleted automatically by the analytics tool).
  • Purchase information: Managed by BOOTH and Ko-fi. We refer to it only as long as needed to deliver products and respond to inquiries, and do not store it separately.
  • Product contents (e.g., what you played): Not stored on our servers.

5. Requests for disclosure, correction or deletion

To check, correct or delete information we hold about you, please contact us via the contact form. After confirming your identity, we will respond without delay.

6. Do Not Track

We do not respond to browser Do Not Track signals individually. However, we use only cookie-free analytics, do not track users across sites, and do not allow third parties to collect information about users' activities across sites through this site.

7. Children under 13

If you are under 13, please do not send personal information such as your name or email address through inquiries or feedback.

8. Changes

When we change this policy, we will announce the changes and the effective date on this page.
